Before I get started:  HEY MARK.... Is this update being started early enough for you?   KISS MY ASS (well not really, you're married and all.....)  but I digress, on with the recap......

Where did everyone go after the game?  I went over to the other team to talk for a bit, and when I looked back, everyone had left, I yelled at people leaving the field, but as always you ignored me.  So much for going to the Boynton huh!  Well as it happens the Diamond Dogs were going to the B, so I tagged along to rub salt into their wounds......

FYI: my typing is atrocious at the moment.   Is it the beer, the Boynton bucket, caffeine from coffee I'm drinking, or am I just high on life after our victory tonight?  Who knows but in spite of spell and grammar checking this could get ugly.  Have pity!

TOP TEN REASONS WHY PAUL DIDN'T GET THE RECAP DONE ON TIME

10. Ran out of Gatorade (you try writing one of these when you're dehydrated!)
9. Too much Gatorade (you try writing one of these in the bathroom without a laptop.)
8. No coffee.....  can't.... stay... awake.... much.... .longer.....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
7. Watching "SHOGUN" my favorite mini-series of all time.  (check it out on the Hallmark Channel 9:00pm this week)
6. I got lost  leaving the dugout after the game.  (the field was REALLY big!)
5. I got tired lugging all the lost and found items back to my car
4. The score book was just too damm wet!
3. I am doing it as of 11pm, but if I fail it's because of the Boynton Bucket, and several pitchers of beer at the B.

Lost and Found Update: If no one claims the glasses and/or batting glove, I'll be putting it out on E-bay, and don't think I won't!

Today's evening beverage:  A large Chocolate Raspberry coffee with cream and sugar from  HoneyDew Donuts, along with a free doughnut (double chocolate.)  I'm also moving along to a TAB - the best damm soda in the world (thank you sponsors)

And now  courtesy of Bob Stechler's incessant moaning regarding my consumption of fruit flavored beers, another fruit beer of the day......

Today's Fruit Flavored Beer of the Day:

Crazy Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer

I'm sure some of you remember this one......  and just so you don't ask, for the moment I'm considering Chili a fruit.

The review of this beer is funny.  The reviewer said "It's more of a Chinese finger trap than beer."  Does that intrigue you?  I hope so.  Read the full review

Quote of the week: "I want to pinch you for good luck!"  Courtesy of Dominic.  Apparently Mad Dog had a birthday recently and D felt the need to give her a pinch.  Thankfully Dom didn't follow through.  If he did, I think he would have been a wet spot on the pavement.

The word of the day: Inconceivable! Courtesy of Vesini in the movie "The Princess Bride" A favorite movie of Bob Emerson, and myself, along with Tom McCormick's significant other (name?????).  Damm good movie!  And one of the few books I've read recent.  I finished the book in a couple weeks, while it took Bob slightly over a year - HAH!  Any whoooo, I didn't think we had a chance.  I was ready to pack things up for another year and we came out with a well deserved victory.  I now have to go get another score book.

Newcomer of the week: the newcomer was the 10th player.  We actually had ten players this week, and put them all to good use.

Fans of the Week: once again we have several to choose from. Lesley and son, as well as Dominic.   Lesley's  little monkey Thomas smiled at me (no it was not gas) so he gets the fan of the week!

Now without further ado, the lineup:

1 Steve is on the mound.  Timmy WHO?
2 Little Bob jack of all trades, is starting off at second, but word has it that he'll be moving to 2nd base, and perhaps Pitcher.
3 Mike.  The Rock in Left field
4 Dave is manning third base
5 Big Bob in Right Center, and later on who knows where else
6 Big Paul is at first
7 Charlie mans Left Center
8 Mad Dog is behind the plate
9 Mark fresh off his unexcused absence is at short
10 Little Paul (aka ME) is in right field

Another Bravo Show. Tuesday's at 10pm, and repeats all over the place.  Sometimes you can watch a whole episode, other times you just feel the need to strangle these people right away. Check it out!

Onto the game's dirty details:

Since I'm actually doing the recap the same day the game was played, I have a reasonably good idea of what went on.

1st Inning Steve begins things with a single up the middle.  Little Bob trumps him by doubling to right.  Mike singles to left, and gets a couple RBI's as Steve and Little Bob score.  Dave triples to center scoring Mike.  Bob doubles down the line in left scoring Dave.  Big Paul singles to left scoring Big Bob  (did anyone else see the intensity of Bob's face as he was chugging home - unbelievable.)  Charlie (batting opposite handed)  hits it to short, and forces Paul at second, but reaches on the fielders choice.   Mad Dog  pops out to third for the second out..  Mark, perhaps a bit rusty from his week off, hits it to short, and is put out 6-3 for the innings final out.  Five runs.  This was the first crooked number I've seen in a while, and in the first inning no less.  Good job team.  The Dogs have some fireworks of their own, and score four runs.  The Sox have a 5-4 lead.
2nd Inning I start off the inning with a display of my blazing speed (no really, that's what that was) after legging out a ball hit to second base.  Steve singles moving me to second.  Little Bob singles to right but is put out trying to stretch the hit into a double.  It took a great throw from right and from the cutoff man to get him at second.  You can't argue with a hustling play.  Nice try.  In any case, I scored prior to all the fireworks. Mike singled, scoring Steve.  Dave reached on a fielders choice as Mike was retired 6-4.  Bob continued the hitting barrage with a single to right center..  Paul singled as did Charlie.  Mad Dog doubled, Bob and Paul scoring on the play.  Mark finished off the inning as the 10th batter by singling, allowing Charlie to score.   We put up six runs, and equally important held the Dogs scoreless to make the score 11-4.
3rd Inning In trying to beat the "SLUCKIS SHIFT" I hit a fly ball to center that went over the fielders head for a double. Steve singled, and I wheezed my way home (note to self: start exercise program - breathing good!) Little Bob flew out to right center for the first out.  Mike doubled, and Dave followed that up with a single to left, scoring both Steve, and Mike.  Bob singled to right.  Big Paul had a sac fly to left center.  Charlie singled to right.  Mad Dog ended the inning by hitting it to third, and forcing out Big Bob.  Another productive inning. Four runs.  The Dogs scored three times to make it 15-7.
4th Inning Mark starts the inning off right with a dinger.  I try to follow suit (not really) and fly out to left center.   Steve doing a bit of the same flies out to right center.  After Little Bob singles, Mike flies out to right center.  Line drives people (unless you're Mark - who can ignore me till he F's up.)  We scored a run, and held our opponents scoreless, increasing the lead to 16-7.
5th Inning Dave begins the inning with  a double.  Big Bob singles moving Dave to third.  Paul singles scoring Dave, and moving Bob to second.  Next up almost the play of the century for the Diamond Dogs.  Charlie line a ball up the middle over the pitchers head. It looked like it was going into center when the Dogs shortstop snagged it in mid air for the first out.  He then doubled Big Bob off second. Finally he fired to first and came close to getting Charlie who thankfully was hustling down the line.  I don't think there has ever been a triple play in our history.  It was close.  Great D!  Mad Dog gets us back on track with a single.  Mark follows suit, and I hit another fly ball to right center which apparently went further than the last one.  I ended up at third (yes I was wheezing again.)  I don't need andro.  I credit it to the corned beef hash, peanut butter crackers, and Gatorade I had for lunch (I may just have to try it again before next game.)  Dave the official scorer at the time gave me 'poor effort' notation apparently for not scoring - I'm only human.  Steve continued things with a double, scoring me.  Little Bob singled to right scoring Steve. As the 10th batter Mike doubled to center, scoring Little Bob.  We batted around again, and had our best run production so far with seven runs scored. After another scoreless inning on defense (superb infield D this inning - on both sides!) The score is how 23-7.
6th Inning It's getting late, and we have a sizable lead.  Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope we don't have a big inning......  Dave starts things off with a single to right (bastard.)  However Big Bob starts things off on the right foot with a hit back to the pitcher, a 1-3 putout for the first out.   Big Paul pops out to short for our number two, and Charlie ends the inning with a pop out to third.  The Dogs came out fighting in the bottom of the inning starting things off with two monster shots in the outfield for homeruns, but thanks to some excellent infield play, they only scored a couple, giving us a 23-9 victory.

The MVP Awards:

Half the stinkin team went 4-5, or 3-4 (did I mention I had a single, double and a triple????)  You guys (and gal) aren't making it easy for me.  After some careful thought we have some winners:

Gold Medal Charlie Cedeno: batting opposite handed, he went 3-5  and scored a run.  He kept innings alive by sucking it up and the plate.  KUDOS!  (We won't hold the DP against you.)
Silver Medal Steve Farley: went 4-5, with three singles and a double, scoring four runs.  His pitching performance kept the Diamond Dogs off balance, and allowed our bats to do the work.
Bronze Medal Dave Hutchins: went 4-5 with two singles, a double and a triple.  He scored four times, and had three RBI's.  He also recorded the first out of the 6th, when it looked like the Dogs were going to mount some sort of bizarre comeback.
Paper Mache Medal Mark Collette: went 3-4 with two singles and a homerun.  According to my records that was the only dinger in the game.  Also played an excellent shortstop.
Ms. Congeniality Infield Defense: Dave, Mark, Steve, the Bob's and Paul.  We had a few scoreless innings thanks to you, and when the Dogs did score some runs, the defense was there to slam the door when needed.  I am in awe!  Excellent job guys.  This was the best effort all year.
Honorable Mention Mad Dog: went 2-4 with a single and a double, and survived an assassination attempt by Big Paul on a missile thrown to home.  By the way Paul should get recognized for his slide into second early in the game.  He kept  the inning going when the score was still close.  Idiot (for sliding) or ultimate team player you be the judge (I can't vote because I've been an idiot way too many times.)

That's all folks.  See you at our next playoff game on Monday!
